Talent Beacon Spotlight: Jeff Seidl
Jeff Seidl didn't set out to build a career in talent acquisition - but once he found it, he never looked back. Today, as a Senior Talent Advisor at Sikich LLC, Jeff specializes in recruiting finance and accounting professionals for one of the nation's top 25 accounting, technology, and advisory firms. His days are anchored in relentless sourcing - the kind of disciplined, high-volume outreach that's essential when recruiting seasoned public accountants who rarely have a reason to leave their current firms.
An Unexpected Start and the Fundamentals It Built
Jeff's path into TA began with an unexpected text from a college friend who worked at Randstad. That leap from a beloved nonprofit into the crucible of agency recruiting taught him the fundamentals that still drive his work: urgency, communication, and a willingness to do the volume. He's since moved through internal roles at startups, boutique agencies, and now thrives in-house at Sikich - a company that impressed him so much during an RPO engagement that he jumped at the chance to join full-time.
What Sets Him Apart
What sets Jeff apart is his intellectual foundation. A philosophy degree taught him how to think critically, ask the right questions, and form his own conclusions - skills he considers more vital than ever. He later added a Master's in Organizational Psychology, which opened the door to collaboration with Sikich's L&D team, where he helps design training modules alongside his recruiting responsibilities.
Jeff is unapologetically a fundamentals-first recruiter. While others chase trends, he champions the basics: communicate proactively, control the process, and never underestimate the power of reading a good book. His advice to anyone looking to level up? Read a book. An online article or a quick AI summary is just not the same.
Beyond the Work
Outside of work, Jeff is an avid reader, gardener, cook, and world traveler. He and his wife are about to take their six-month-old son on his first European adventure.
