LinkedIn’s 2026 Talent Velocity Advantage Report is now live and shows an overwhelming majority of Chief People Officers believe that:

  • AI is accelerating the integration of HR and technology functions
  • There’s an increasing need for real-time skills visibility and resourcing insights.
  • Their  organization will increasingly organize teams based on the skills needed for a specific task or project instead of focusing on job titles.

What insight from the Talent Velocity Report most challenged how you think about career growth or workforce planning today—and why?

I’m not in L&D but love the word “talent velocity”; do you think there is a link between the rise of ai-enable external candidate (increased noise in pipelines) and organizations turning tapping more into existing internal pipelines and referrals?

Hey @Najat Andreozzi Najat, I really appreciate you jumping in with this perspective.

What you’re pointing out feels like an important tension. If AI is increasing volume and noise externally, it would make sense that organizations might lean more heavily into internal talent and referrals where there’s stronger signal and known skills context. That feels very aligned with the shift toward skills visibility and more fluid, project-based team structures the report highlights.

Are you seeing a shift toward internal pipelines and referrals as AI-enabled applications increase?
