Happy Friday @Meghan-Community Team! ☕️

Week 3 has been a great reality check. Using LinkedIn in English while living and working in Italy gave me a specific 'aha moment' regarding the balance between global tools and local connections.

I’ve realized that the real magic of AI-assisted messaging happens when it helps us keep our outreach incisive and smart—the classic 'Less is more' approach. It’s been great for trimming the fluff and focusing on a tailor-made proposal that really speaks to the candidate’s journey.

One thought for the team LinkedIn: Since many of us keep our interface in English but reach out to people in different countries, it would be amazing to have a 'Target Language Selector' for the AI drafts. It would help so much in keeping that authentic local feel while maintaining our usual workflow.

Engagement is all about making the other person feel 'heard,' and bridging that language gap would be a huge plus for everyone!

My week 3 takeaway: stop starting from scratch.

I let AI draft, I edit it to sound like me, then I save it. Now I have a growing library of templates that actually work.

Simple but it's made outreach way less painful. 😅

As the only Talent Sourcer in a lean TA team, it’s not always practical to fully personalise every message. That said, I place a strong emphasis on building rapport from the first touchpoint to ensure candidates have a great experience.

I use AI to draft bulk outreach messages for a specific project or campaign, then review each one and make small, tailored adjustments to add a more personal touch. I’ve also found AI helpful for maintaining a consistent tone across the entire outreach batch—particularly when engaging executive-level talent.

My biggest insight from this course has been around being able to adjust how long or short I want my AI messages to be.

I’ve definitely noticed a higher response rate with AI-drafted messages than with standard templates, and I’ve been able to hear back from candidates on LinkedIn who I’d been following up with for a long time without any response.

Plot twist, @Meghan-Community Team 🙈

Right after my last comment about wishing for a language feature, I went back to the platform, looked a bit closer at the interface, and found exactly what I was looking for! (Talk about a classic 'it was right in front of me' moment!).

Even though my global LinkedIn interface is set to English, the 'Message language' dropdown is right there under the settings (as you can see in the screenshot).

I immediately tested it by switching it to Italian, paired with the 'Short' length slider because, as I mentioned, less is more for engagement. The result? A perfectly tailored, incisive message ready for my local market without changing my overall workflow.

I wanted to share this discovery because I'm sure other international users might have overlooked this tiny but massive detail. The tool really does have us covered!

  1. AI is embedded across the full sourcing cycle rather than bolted on at the outreach stage. It starts at role intake, I use Claude to interrogate job specs, stress-test what the hiring manager actually needs versus what's written, and build sourcing briefs that reflect the real target profile. From there it feeds directly into boolean construction for LinkedIn Recruiter and SeekOut, with strings iterated in real time based on result volume and profile quality. For candidate evaluation I'm pasting profiles directly and getting structured scored assessments. Outreach is the last step, not the first, which means by the time a message goes out it's been shaped by everything above it: the role context, the candidate's specific background, and a narrative that's been built to be genuinely persuasive rather than generic. The AI touch up feature puts the final personalisation together before being sent.
  2. The biggest shift has been realising that the bottleneck in sourcing was never volume - it was quality of framing. I was spending time on strings and InMails that were technically correct but conceptually wrong because the role had been mis-framed from the start.
  3. Response rates on tailored InMails have meaningfully improved compared to template-led outreach. The difference is specificity. Candidates respond when a message references something real about their background and connects it to something real about the role, rather than reading like it was copied from a job board.

Utilizing the AI inmail feature allows me to add personalization quickly and edit/tailor as needed. Sometimes it picks up on a detail I may have missed on the candidates bio such as a skill-set, eduction, or a commonality to my own experience.

Utilizing AI in my outreach has definitely been a time saver, whilst polishing the messages I send out. I love that I have built up a good set of templates from which to start, and that the AI touch up really helps with personalizing the messages I send out. There is a huge difference between the responses I get with personalized AI drafting, and the responses I used to get when I was applying generic templates to my bulk messaging.

Catching construction industry candidates’ attention has been challenging to say the least.  Using AI messages that I edit to sound more like myself, has been really helpful in getting candidates to respond.

Quick quirky and catchy subject lines have made a huge difference as well!

How I'm Integrating AI into My Talent Sourcing Workflow:

As a Talent Sourcer, I send dozens of InMails daily. Using AI to draft personalized messages has been a game-changer: it helps me move away from generic templates and tailor each outreach to the candidate's background and experience. The time savings alone have been significant, but the real win is making every message feel genuine and engaging.

My biggest "aha moment"? Realizing that I'm completely in control. I can set the tone, length, and level of personalization. It’s all about using AI as a tool to enhance my messaging while keeping it natural and authentic. That level of control is crucial.

The Results? Personalized messages actually get responses. I've tested both generic templates and AI-enhanced, tailored versions of the same templates. The difference is clear: candidates reply faster to personalized messages, even when it's a "no." The key takeaway for me: AI-assisted messaging is about scaling genuine connection!

Lately, I’ve been using AI tools to help write my daily messages, mostly to turn my quick notes into clear, friendly emails for different candidates. My biggest "aha moment" was realizing that the tool doesn't replace my own voice—it just stops me from staring at a blank screen and helps me get started much faster. Since I started using it, I've seen a real jump in how many people reply to me, simply because the notes are clear and easy to read, which helps me find the right people for our teams a lot quicker.

How are you integrating AI-assisted messaging into your daily workflow?
I’ve been using AI as a starting point for a lot of my communication, candidate outreach, hiring leader updates, difficult conversations, and even team messages. It helps me organize my thoughts, create a stronger message faster, and saves time. I still make sure everything sounds like me and keeps the personal touch.

What is your biggest insight or “aha moment” so far?
My biggest “aha moment” has been realizing AI doesn’t replace the human side of recruiting, it actually gives me more time to focus on it. It helps take care of the first draft so I can spend more time building relationships, coaching hiring leaders, and creating a better candidate experience.

What results or impact have you seen from the messages you’ve sent?
The biggest impact has been consistency and efficiency. My messages are clearer, more polished, and I can respond much quicker. It has also helped me tailor communication for different audiences while still keeping it authentic and genuine.

I am looking forward to utilizing more AI assisted in-mails with my recruiting team that I help support. I think that we have been falling short using extremely templated messaging that sounds like every other message recruiters are sending to candidates.

I would like to see recruiters “test” their messaging more with utilizing AI and running the report to track response rates. I think this can really help improve messaging and showing recruiters how tailoring AI assisted templates can still sound human.

As a recruitment researcher, I’ve learned that successful hiring starts long before the first candidate conversation. Understanding talent markets, skills, trends and where top talent comes from helps build stronger and more targeted hiring strategies.

As a recruitment researcher, I've realized that AI is a powerful tool for accelerating talent research and decision making. It helps analyze data faster, identify relevant talent pools and uncover market insights. However, the final hiring decision still relies on human judgement, relationship building and understanding candidate motivations. The best results come when AI and human expertise work together.

Attracting construction industry talent has been challenging, but personalized AI-assisted outreach and catchy subject lines have significantly improved candidate engagement and response rates. I've also found AI to be a valuable tool for accelerating talent research, identifying relevant talent pools, and generating market insights that support faster hiring decisions.

A few simple shifts I’ve been focusing on:
– being more intentional with outreach
– personalizing messages
– staying consistent with follow-ups

Using LinkedIn’s AI tools has been especially helpful. It provides a strong starting point, and I can quickly refine messages to keep them personal and relevant.

One key insight so far: it’s possible to scale outreach while still tailoring messages to each individual candidate all with one click!

I’ve also seen a noticeable increase in responses even when candidates aren’t interested, there’s more engagement overall.
